Classic F1 demo set for Queensland Raceway historic event

The car will appear in demonstration runs throughout the event, treating fans to a snippet of 1990s F1.

When not on track, the car will be parked among a variety of display vehicles for fans to admire up close.

Built as a direct evolution of the team’s 1994 car, the S951 only appeared in the first five rounds of the season, failing to qualify in Monaco.

The car was originally piloted by Italian Domenico Schiattarella and Jos Verstappen, father of four-time world champion Max.

Quinn last drove the car publicly at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival in late February.

Classic QLD will see over 100 historic vehicles hit the track for races, sprints, and time trials.

While the Simtek will only complete demonstration laps, fans will be treated to racing from a variety of different categories, such as touring cars, F5000, Commodore Cup, Trans Am and motorbikes.

Friday is reserved for practice and qualifying, with racing commencing on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30am.

There is no broadcast of the event, however spectator entry commences at 8:00am each day, with camping options available.
